Caring for aging pets, recognizing pain and the perennial topic of feline house soiling: These were just a few of the hundreds of sessions presented at the Veterinary Meeting and Expo (VMX) last month in Orlando. Aviston man charged with cruelty to animals for shooting pet

Hobie Timmons and his son, Brent Timmons, were the owners of a Siberian husky named Trigger. The dog was shot and killed by a neighbor on Friday on his property between Aviston and Albers.

Timmons’ hobby, from rural Germantown, appealed to friends on social media, held a protest rally at his home, and threatened a civil suit against the owner of the next-door property who he says shot and killed his beloved family pet.

Friday, the Clinton County State’s Attorney’s office filed charges against that neighbor.

A Day in Dorset (part 1)

A few weekends back, I met up with a university friend and went for a day trip to some heathland in Dorset, with the hope of finding some different and less common creatures. Dorset is well known for its animal diversity and many of Britain’s rarer organisms can be found there, furthermore its heathlands are notorious for containing all six native reptile species (see list below). El Paso Animal Services holds a free drive-thru pet wellness clinic this weekend

EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — El Paso Animal Services will offer free pet vaccinations and microchips to hundreds of pets via a drive-thru pet wellness clinic on Sunday.

The event will take place at 301 George Perry Boulevard from 8 am to 11 am

The free event is first-come, first-served and limited to the first 500 pets.

Pets must remain in the vehicle; all dogs must be on a leash and cats must be placed in a secure carrier while visiting the drive-thru clinic.

A Florida company is recalling omega-3 supplements for dogs and cats that were sold across the country under numerous brand names, saying the product could contain dangerous levels of vitamin A.
