An 84-year-old woman and her dog died in a Sierra Vista dog attack that also left a man with critical injuries, Arizona police reported.

Officers responding to a Friday, June 23, 911 call reporting a dog attack in an alley found a dog attacking a man in a nearby yard, police said in a news release.

Officers killed the dog and provided first aid to the man, identified as Sam Sanches Jr., 53, police said.

Police found Helene Jackson, 84, in an alley behind the home with her dog, which had been killed, the release said.
