The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has many adorable animals and creatures running around it; between foxes, bears, and also dogs, there are many furry faces to go around. Dogs are a pretty cool addition to Tears of the Kingdom, not just because of their cuteness but also for the neat tricks they can do, which this guide will discuss. The question that many animal lovers will be asking about Nintendo’s latest hit is can any of the animals in Tears of the Kingdom be pet?
Can You Pet Animals?
When a dog sees Link in Tears of the Kingdom, it will almost immediately be entranced by him and want to follow him. This is an opportunity when a player can get food for the pup to feed him. After the dog has been given a treat, it will lead the way to some pretty cool treasure that players might want to take the time to get while they can.
However, every human on earth wants to pet a dog as soon as they see it, and while players might think Tears of the Kingdom would let them do this…it does not. The game doesn’t allow players to pet the dog, or any other animal for that matter; aside from when Link pets a horse to soothe them.
This is quite sad, considering just how cute the dogs and other animals are and that allowing gamers to pet the in-game animals has become a trend, including with Hogwarts Legacy. It is odd not to see this carried over into The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Dogs cannot be pet no matter what in the game. This is something that many fans have been upset about, with good reason. While animals can be put in Tears of the Kingdom, there are still many things to do involving animals. Dogs can follow players around; horses can be tamed and collected up to six in total, and as shown above, players can take some pretty cute pictures with the dog. It doesn’t make it better that players can’t play with or touch the dog to show it some extra affection, but instead, be sure to give it a treat.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available now on Nintendo Switch.
