A pop-up vet clinic in Burlington treats pets of the homeless

On Saturday in Burlington, the Street Dog Coalition held a free veterinary pop-up clinic for pets of the homeless. At the clinic, our four-legged friends were able to receive vaccines, heartworm tests, and parasite preventives. Roughly a dozen volunteers helped make the pop-up clinic possible where they were able to treat 30 dogs. Michelle Tulis the organizer of the event says her inspiration to hold clinics like these comes from the special bond that comes with having a pet. “Primarily because of the bond and how important those animals are to people and we want them to have care and especially to have things like rabies shots,” she said. This is the second pop-up clinic the coalition has held, and hopes to have three to four more throughout the rest of the year.
